(SIOUX FALLS, S.D.) –Denny Sanford PREMIER Center is nominated for the second straight year for Venue of the Year for medium capacity venues for the 52nd Academy of Country Music Awards™.
Industry Award, Studio Recording Award and Special Award winners will be announced and celebrated during the 11th Annual ACM Honors™, an evening dedicated to recognizing the special honorees and off-camera category winners from the 52nd Academy of Country Music Awards. The event will take place Wednesday, August 23, 2017 at the historic Ryman Auditorium in Nashville, TN.
“I am so proud of the back to back nominations as Venue of the Year!” says Mayor Mike Huether. “The folks around Sioux Falls are thrilled by our new Event Center and it is wonderful that country music leaders across America and the world are recognizing the grand things happening here.”
The PREMIER Center is nominated along with some of the busiest medium sized venues in the country, including Red Rocks Amphitheatre in Morrison, Colorado, Bank of New Hampshire Pavilion at Meadowbrook in Gilford, N.H., Huntington Center in Toledo, and Ford Center in Evansville, Ind.
“With 13 of our 16 country shows selling out since PREMIER Center opened, that demonstrates the support from the region for these tours,” says Chris Semrau, Assistant General Manager of PREMIER Center. “We will continue to pursue the hottest country shows for the market while providing a great experience for tours at the PREMIER Center.”
In 2016, Denny Sanford PREMIER Center ranked among the world’s highest ticket-selling concert and sports venues, according to data released earlier this year by Pollstar Magazine. The venue ranked 88th in the world.
The PREMIER Center hosted 671,098 people in 2016. Sold out events included Paul McCartney, Carrie Underwood, Blake Shelton, Journey, and Professional Bull Riders tour.
