Denny Sanford Premier Center Nominated As Part Of The 52nd Academy Of Country Music Awards

(SIOUX FALLS, S.D.) –Denny Sanford PREMIER Center is nominated for the second straight year for Venue of the Year for medium capacity venues for the 52nd Academy of Country Music Awards™.

Industry Award, Studio Recording Award and Special Award winners will be announced and celebrated during the 11th Annual ACM Honors™, an evening dedicated to recognizing the special honorees and off-camera category winners from the 52nd Academy of Country Music Awards. The event will take place Wednesday, August 23, 2017 at the historic Ryman Auditorium in Nashville, TN.

“I am so proud of the back to back nominations as Venue of the Year!” says Mayor Mike Huether. “The folks around Sioux Falls are thrilled by our new Event Center and it is wonderful that country music leaders across America and the world are recognizing the grand things happening here.”

The PREMIER Center is nominated along with some of the busiest medium sized venues in the country, including Red Rocks Amphitheatre in Morrison, Colorado, Bank of New Hampshire Pavilion at Meadowbrook in Gilford, N.H., Huntington Center in Toledo, and Ford Center in Evansville, Ind.

“With 13 of our 16 country shows selling out since PREMIER Center opened, that demonstrates the support from the region for these tours,” says Chris Semrau, Assistant General Manager of PREMIER Center. “We will continue to pursue the hottest country shows for the market while providing a great experience for tours at the PREMIER Center.”

In 2016, Denny Sanford PREMIER Center ranked among the world’s highest ticket-selling concert and sports venues, according to data released earlier this year by Pollstar Magazine. The venue ranked 88th in the world.

The PREMIER Center hosted 671,098 people in 2016. Sold out events included Paul McCartney, Carrie Underwood, Blake Shelton, Journey, and Professional Bull Riders tour.

New Star Trek finally coming to TV?

This first trailer for Star Trek Discovery looks pretty good.  What do you think?

CBS has released the first trailer for Star Trek: Discovery and I really like what I see! This looks a lot better than what I was expecting and I’m excited to watch it! The series has had a long road to production but it looks like it paid off. This first trailer made a great first impression.

Star Trek: Discovery is set on a new ship and will follow new characters who embark on new adventurous missions while embracing the same ideology and hope for the future that inspired a generation of dreamers and doers. The trailer came with the tagline, “Before Kirk, Spock and the Enterprise there was Discovery.”

If “Reality TV” was Real Life – The Bachelor (NSFW)

What if those horrible “Reality TV” shows were Real Life?

Let’s face it, next to Lip Sync battles, Big Bang Theory, and Jimmy Fallon “Reality TV” is the lowest form of entertainment. There’s nothing “real” about it and everyone’s in it only for the fame. But what if an actual real person went on that show. A brutally honest misogynistic asshole from Haverhill, MA……

These videos by Zebra Corner are the best. NSFW by the way…

Sioux Falls Proclaims Friday “Louie Anderson Day”

(Sioux Falls, SD)—Minnesota native and Emmy Award® winning comedian Louie Anderson will be recognized by the city of Sioux Falls on Friday when he returns to the historic Orpheum Theater with his latest tour.

“Louie Anderson Day” in Sioux Falls is a tribute to one of the country’s “100 Greatest Stand-Up Comedians of All Time” as proclaimed by Comedy Central.

In 2016 Anderson was cast to co-star along with Zach Galifianakis and Martha Kelly in the hit FX comedy series “Baskets.” Anderson plays the extraordinary role of Christine, the matriarch of the Baskets clan. He based the character on his mother and his five sisters who were all a major presence in his life. Anderson won an Emmy Award for Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Comedy Series for his role.

In 1995 Louie put his creative energies to work on the Saturday morning animated series Life with Louie. The long–running series based on Louie’s own childhood and his life with his father won three Humanitas Prizes for writing on a children’s’ animated series, making him the only three–time recipient of this award. It also earned a Genesis Award for its depiction of the proper treatment of animals and two Emmy Awards.

Anderson performs Friday at 8 p.m. at the Orpheum Theater. Tickets are $36.50 and are available at Ticketmaster.com, JadePresents.com, The Denny Sanford PREMIER Center KELOLAND Box Office (1201 N West Avenue; Monday – Friday 10 a.m. – 5 p.m.) or charge by phone at (800) 745-3000.
